Building Public Relations Skills and Global Communication Strategies through the Independent Internship and Independent Study Program at VINIX7
My name is Ni Kadek Intan Pradnya Dewi. On this valuable occasion, I would like to share the narrative of my journey during the Independent Internship and Independent Study program at VINIX7. Through this program, I realized that the most effective learning process does not only occur within the classroom but also through real interactions with a dynamic industry. At VINIX7, I was entrusted to delve into the International Relations and Public Relations (PR) division, an area that has expanded my thinking horizons regarding strategic communication.
The internship implementation system was based on Work From Home (WFH) however, VINIX7 provided flexibility for participants to visit the office directly at Jl. Watugede No. 58, Sleman, Yogyakarta, following a predetermined visitation schedule. During the program, I gained profound knowledge regarding the intricacies of the PR world. The main focus of our learning was to sharpen critical reasoning to identify international cooperation opportunities and how to establish professional relations between countries involving diverse cultural backgrounds.
The series of activities during this program were structurally designed so that we could implement theory into practice through real projects. The assignments I worked on included drafting strategic proposals, role-playing as corporate PR practitioners, and problem-handling strategies to restore institutional image during crisis situations. The most memorable moment for me was the process of working on the final project prepared for presentation at the Demo Day event. During that activity, my team and I presented the proposals and innovative products we had developed before mentors who acted as the board of examiners. This experience was highly effective in practicing data storytelling skills and demanded high professionalism in conveying ideas systematically.
Technically our activities covered several main modules. First, we delved into crisis management involving the application of 3C and 5C principles to maintain organizational reputation stability. Second, we learned about international branding and global market research, where we analyzed how to conduct effective cross-cultural communication adaptation. All these activities aimed to produce a campaign playbook measurable through clear performance indicators. The benefits I gained from the program at VINIX7 are very comprehensive for my self-development. Additionally, the direct mentoring sessions from expert practitioners provided me with sharper career insights through constructive evaluation and guidance.
Another very memorable aspect was the social environment created during the program. I met and collaborated with fellow students from various universities in Indonesia who were very friendly and held high values of solidarity. Our regular group discussion sessions became productive and inclusive spaces for exchanging ideas. This interaction not only expanded my professional network on a national scale but also practiced adaptation and collaboration skills within a diverse team. Being together in facing every project challenge made this learning experience much more meaningful and motivating.
The entire range of experiences at VINIX7 has made a significant positive contribution to my academic growth and character. This program has equipped me with the mental readiness and technical skills to step into the professional world with more confidence. I sincerely hope that more programs bridging the gap between universities and industries like this continue to exist, as the benefits are immense in shaping student readiness for future challenges.
