Japanese Literature Student Receives MEXT Scholarship to Study at Kobe Women’s University

Helen Adriela Tumanggor, a student of the Japanese Literature Study Program, has been awarded the MEXT Scholarship to pursue a one-year study program at Kobe Women’s University in Japan.

Her journey began with an announcement from the Japanese Literature Study Program inviting eligible students to apply for the scholarship opportunity. One of the main requirements was a minimum Japanese language proficiency of JLPT N3. From among the students who met the requirements, the study program conducted an internal selection process and selected the student with the highest test score to proceed to the next stage.

The selected student was then required to prepare and submit the necessary documents before participating in an interview with representatives of Kobe Women’s University. After receiving an acceptance from the university, she proceeded with the required documentation for the MEXT University-to-University (U2U) program.

Following the completion of the selection process and her successful acceptance by MEXT, Helen officially received the scholarship to undertake a one-year study program at Kobe Women’s University. She will then prepare for her departure to Japan and take part in academic activities at the host university.

Through this program, Helen will have the opportunity to further develop her Japanese language skills through direct interaction with native speakers. Beyond the classroom, the experience will also allow her to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese culture through firsthand experiences and interactions with the local community.
