Learning from the Professional World through the MBKM Program at ARTOTEL Sanur Bali

The Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program provides students with opportunities to gain direct learning experiences in the professional world. Through this program, students can develop practical skills and broaden their professional perspectives beyond the classroom.

I am Maulana Hermawan Arjunandi, a student of the Japanese Studies Program at the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University. I participated in the MBKM program through an internship at ARTOTEL Sanur Bali, specifically in the Food and Beverage Service Division. ARTOTEL Sanur Bali serves both domestic and international guests, creating a dynamic and multicultural working environment. This environment allowed me to learn firsthand about professional communication, work ethics, and service excellence.

During the MBKM program, I was involved in various operational activities within the Food and Beverage Service Division. These activities included preparing the service area before operating hours, assisting in food and beverage service, maintaining cleanliness in the work area, and participating in post-service activities. Through this direct involvement, I gained a comprehensive understanding of service workflows from preparation to completion.

The benefits I gained from this MBKM experience were significant. In addition to gaining practical experience in the hospitality industry, I learned the importance of discipline, responsibility, and teamwork. Interacting with guests from diverse cultural backgrounds also helped me improve my communication skills and build self-confidence.

This MBKM program also allowed me to apply the knowledge I acquired during my academic studies, particularly in professional communication and cross-cultural understanding. The experience helped me realize that professional life requires not only academic competence but also strong attitudes, ethics, and adaptability.

Overall, participating in the MBKM program at ARTOTEL Sanur Bali was a meaningful and valuable experience for me. The program provided real insights into the working world and served as an important foundation for my future professional career. I hope that the MBKM program will continue to grow and provide similar opportunities for other students.
