I'm a fourth-year Udayana University student named Clara Irena Maharesti. I signed up to participate in the Kampus Merdeka program's Certified Independent Study at the end of the 6th semester. I participated in a Certified Independent Study called Data Analytics for Climate Change Resolution and Sustainable Development, which was run by Zenius Education. Even though this program has nothing related to my major, I decided to enroll because I think that the knowledge I have gained from attending regular classes is insufficient to satisfy the demands of the modern digital world. As a result, I'm committed to learning data analytics skills in addition to my major since they're crucial digital talent in today's world. I think that by integrating these two ideas, everything I've learned so far will work better for me and other people. As for before joining this program, I participated in a series of selections until I finally passed and was able to join this program for one semester in my 7th semester, which lasted for approximately four months starting on August 14, 2023 until December 31, 2023.
Zenius Education organizes the Certified Independent Study program under the title "Climate Change Resolution and Sustainable Development," dividing participants into three learning paths: Data Analytics, Product Management, and UI/UX, and I am enrolled in the Data Analytics learning path. In this program, I studied three key materials: Climate Change 101: Basic Concepts & Framework, Critical Thinking and Decision-Making Skills, and Data Analytics for Climate Change Resolution and Sustainable Development. The initial step in the learning process is learning about climate change in class. This is followed by concurrent learning about data analytics, critical thinking, and decision-making. Classes on climate change and critical thinking include students from all three learning paths together in a single session, nevertheless classes on material leading to individual learning paths are held following those learning tracks.
I gained knowledge about the definition of climate change, its effects, potential countermeasures, and discussions surrounding it in the course Climate Change 101: Basic Concepts & Framework. In the Critical Thinking and Decision-Making Skills module, I learned about fundamental logic, algebra, and linguistic accuracy, as well as critical thinking and decision-making. I learned about the foundations of data science, Python, databases and SQL, data analysis, data visualization, statistical modeling, and dashboards throughout my course on Data Analytics for Climate Change Resolution and Sustainable Development.
Through live classes, learning modules, and assignments, all instruction is conducted online. In the live class, the instructor uses interactive teaching methods to convey the material, and there is also a Q&A session where participants can ask questions concerning the lecturer's presentation of the material or other learning-related topics. Each participant in the program has access to learning modules on the Canvas website. Journals, academic studies, websites, films, and other learning-supporting media are all used as forms of learning modules. Assignments are determined by the content covered in the learning module and in live classes. The tasks, which can be completed individually or in groups, are designed to help learners apply what they have learned and gauge their aptitude and comprehension. A mentoring session was also conducted by the mentor assigned to each participant at the start of the program, on top of these three things. Participants are free to ask any questions they may have about the assignments and course materials during the mentoring session. Participants can also communicate any challenges they have had with the mentor, who will offer guidance, recommendations, and advice on these issues.
I learned a great deal of new information when I started this program, particularly about data analytics. Despite facing various challenges during the learning process, I am grateful to the mentors and teachers who took the time to carefully explain the subject, respond to my inquiries, and offer guidance. Also, thanks to my friends who always supported and helped me when I had difficulties in the learning process, I was able to follow and complete the entire program well. It has been an honor for me to be able to join and be part of this program for the past semester and this has been a very valuable experience for me in my journey in pursuing my higher education.
