Independent Internship at Bali Provincial Tourism Office

My name is Tobey Reva Adriano, a fourth year student of the Japanese Literature Major at Universitas Udayana. On this fourth year, I am undergoing internship activities at the Bali Provincial Tourism Office. Internship activities at the Bali Provincial Tourism Office are Independent Internship activities which are part of the Kampus Merdeka program which aims to provide opportunities for students to learn and develop themselves through activities outside of lecture classes. This Independent Internship program provides opportunities for students to be directly involved in the world of work. The Bali Provincial Tourism Office provides opportunities to learn and work directly in handling matters related to the management, preservation, guidance, and development of Bali tourism. Therefore, I decided to join this program.

The Bali Provincial Tourism Office is a government agency located at Jl. S. Parman Niti Mandala. The Bali Provincial Tourism Office was authorized by the Minister of Home Affairs on October 13, 1993 January 1963 with Decree Number 123 of 1995. The Bali Provincial Tourism Office has a vision of "Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali" Melalui Pola Pembangunan Semesta Berencana Menuju Bali Era Baru, which means maintaining the sanctity and harmony of Balinese nature and its contents to realize a prosperous and happy Balinese krama life, Sakala-niskala towards the life of krama and gumi Bali in accordance with Bung Karno's Trisakti principles, namely politically sovereign, economically independent, and personality in culture through development in a patterned, comprehensive, planned, directed, and integrated manner within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia based on the values of Pancasila June 1, 1945.

I did my internship for 3.5 months, starting from September 1, 2023-December 15, 2023. During my internship at the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, I was placed in Division 2, which is the field that deals with institutional and human resource development, precisely in the Institutional Development Subdivision. The work schedule of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office is Monday-Friday, at 07.30-15.30 WITA, except on Friday which is 07.30-13.00 WITA. The intern's duties in general are to assist employees, such as entering data, creating documents, and creating articles. But there are some activities that interns also participate in, such as meetings with external parties, hearings, and then events outside the office, such as beach clean-up activities in the framework of World Tourism Day, and Jegeg Bagus Bali 2023. In these events, I was assigned to prepare and run the event, where in Jegeg Bagus Bali 2023 I was a member of the Consumption Section.

During my internship, I met friends who were very pleasant and willing to guide me in doing the tasks assigned. After more than three months of internship activities at the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, I got an idea of how the atmosphere of working in an office. I also gained relationships in the office world. This can be a provision for me to prepare myself for the office world after I graduate from Universitas Udayana.
