Internship and Certified Independent Study (MSIB) Skilvul UI/UX Design (2023)
My name is I Gusti Ngurah Jun Arya Wangsa, a fourth-year student at Udayana University. In the final semester, I applied for the Merdeka Campus Internship and Certified Independent Study (MSIB) program. This program is offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. At the end of June, I received an email confirming my registration for the program. I was delighted and promptly completed the registration process.
The registration process for the Merdeka Campus program was straightforward due to the availability of comprehensive registration guidelines. I successfully enrolled in the Certified Independent Study at PT Impactbyte Teknologi Edukasi with the program name "Skilvul #Tech4Impact: UI/UX Design."Throughout the Skilvul UI/UX Design program, I attended classes on UI/UX design and soft skills. The learning process was engaging, with friendly and supportive mentors guiding participants. Classes were conducted online via Zoom, and exercises and challenges were provided on the SkilRoom website. The materials and quizzes on SkilRoom were instrumental in helping me, as a beginner, understand UI/UX design.
As part of the program, participants were assigned a final project task to create an application design based on a given challenge theme. The project was carried out in predetermined groups and involved stages such as research on the given theme, identifying problems, grouping problems, and proposing solution ideas. After completing these stages, my group and I started working on the application design using Figma. The completed application design underwent testing with respondents, and improvements were made until completion. The final application design was then presented at the end of the program.
The Skilvul program also included soft skills training. Through the soft skills sessions, I enhanced my competencies in critical thinking, empathy, time management, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and creativity. Additionally, Skilvul provided career preparation in the field of UI/UX design, including exercises in creating a CV and interview preparation. In the last soft skills class, I gained insights into managing a business mindset as an entrepreneur. As a beginner in UI/UX design, I initially lacked confidence. However, after starting the program, I felt that I could follow and understand UI/UX design, thanks to the easily comprehensible materials and exercises provided, along with the supportive learning environment at Skilvul.
I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Skilvul UI/UX Design program and acquire valuable skills for the future. I hope to further enhance and deepen my technological skills in the future. I encourage Japanese Literature students to explore learning beyond their campus and field by participating in the Merdeka Campus program.
