Martyn Christian Successfully Received a Bagus Title of Faculty of Humanities

Mixed feelings of worry and happiness filled the Widya Sabha Mandala auditorium, Faculty of Humanities on Wednesday (15/6). The reason is, after passing through many obstacles, a student of the Japanese department, Martyn Christian Redondo Gultom managed to achieve the highest rank in the Jegeg Bagus competition held by the Student Senate of the Faculty of Humanities.

Martyn admitted that he did not expect to be able to reach this position, "Because it never occurred to me to be able to win the title as a Bagus FIB. Of course I am also very happy, because the efforts that I do can produce good results," said Martyn.

Martyn underwent a training process for approximately 1 month with the Jegeg Bagus community of Faculty of Humanities. According to him, the training process is very difficult for him who does not have a basic knowledge in the field of pageant. There, Martyn was taught how to answer questions, how to walk, how to stand and pose, and how to be the best version of himself. But little by little, the strenuous exercise was passed well, "thanks to the hard work I put in and the support from friends at Jegeg Bagus of Faculty of Humanities, my friends and seniors at Japanese department student organization, and my family."

Martyn continued the story by revealing his obstacles during the process of participating in this competition, "The main obstacle I faced was the difficulty in dividing practice time and also studying time. The next obstacle was the problem of myself. The Jegeg Bagus event requires us to be the best version of ourselves, therefore, it takes a mental readiness to be able to change yourself to become a good person for the people around. Moreover, in 4 or 5 days before the grand final, I lost my enthusiasm and my goal to participate in this event, several things happened in my life. However, because this is a responsibility that I have taken on, then I have to finish it well and I don't want to disappoint my friends who have supported me so far."

Martyn's message to other students is to stay enthusiastic in whatever you do. Do not do or take responsibility with motivation or purpose that can disappear at any time. When you achieve something, say thank you especially to yourself, but don't hate or hurt yourself when you fail. And lastly, finish what you have started with all your heart and responsibility.

Thanks for the hard work and congratulations on the achievement, Martyn! Keep the spirit to carry out the task until the next year. (nr)
