MSIB Microcredential Game Developer
My name is I Gusti Ngurah Alit Wijaya Jelantik, I am a fourth-year student at Udayana University. At the end of the sixth semester, I decided to continue my studies in the seventh semester by participating in the MBKM MSIB program provided by the university, as well as the Ministry of Education. MBKM is a government program that allows me to study courses outside my major and even permits learning in external institutions beyond my registered university.
I chose to join the MBKM MSIB Microcredential Game Developer program offered by PT. Mitra Edukasi Pratama. The reason for selecting the Game Developer program from PT. Mitra Edukasi Pratama is that the Microcredential Game Developer program divides enrolled individuals into different streams based on their interests, talents, and preferences. I opted for the Game Artist stream, focusing on the visual and audio aspects of game development.
In the Game Artist stream, I studied several courses related to visual and audio art for games. In the 2D Assets class, I learned to create game assets in 2D, such as character design, backgrounds, and minor assets. The 2D Animation course covered 2D animation theory and the creation of simple walking animations. The 3D Assets class taught me how to create game assets in 3D, while the 3D Animation course focused on animating 3D assets. In the Game Audio Design stream, I delved into the basic theory of creating music in games and crafting sound effects for use within games. The UI/UX stream covered theories and the use of UI/UX development tools like Figma in game development. Lastly, there was the creation of the final game, or Capstone. The Capstone Game is the culmination of all streams, where individuals from various streams collaborate in groups to create an educational visual novel game on the theme of the history of Bandung, titled "Memories of Bandung."
The benefits I gained from participating in the MBKM MSIB Independent Study Microcredential Game Developer program include learning about game development from ideation to the final playable form, especially in the areas of visual and audio development. I also gained experience in collaborating within a team consisting of individuals with different interests, all working together to create a playable game.
I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in the MBKM Microcredential Game Developer program because, in addition to acquiring valuable knowledge in the field of Game Artist, I also made friends through projects provided by PT. Mitra Edukasi Pratama.
