Nisa Jenisya and Toti Wijaya "3rd Place" in the 2021 UNMAS Bunkasai Japanese Video Contest

In 2021 to be precise in June we decided to take part in one of the competitions organized by Maha Saraswati University in order to enliven the 8th Bunkasai, namely the Japanese language video competition. Nisa and Toti became a team in working on this video. We took part in this competition quite suddenly with a very tight deadline for collecting works. We only had time to work on the entire video in 3 days. We spent all night coordinating with each other regarding the script, the order of taking videos, consulting with sensei-gata, and not forgetting to encourage each other to finish everything.

The first experience of participating in a Japanese language video competition while studying at the Japanese Literature Study Program at Udayana University was an unforgettable experience for us. How come? In times of a pandemic like this, we are still able to deliver achievements, although not big but meaningful. We learned many things in a short time, especially in terms of doing something in all obstacles must be resolved with maximum effort as well. The effort did not betray the results, we managed to occupy the third position in this competition.

During the process of making the video, we didn't even have time to meet face to face, because Nisa was sick while Toti had to go back and forth from Denpasar to Tampak Siring to record and compose videos. We only communicate through chat, Toti who is busy taking care of the video, of course, Nisa is in charge of compiling the script and dubbing for the video. Previously, the theme of the video contested was tourist attractions in Bali and we chose Tirta Empul as the tourist attraction that we reviewed. Like making a vlog, Tirta Empul is introduced as a tourist attraction which is also a holy place for various Hindus. During the pandemic, the videos we recorded were not so crowded with visitors except for a few people who were carrying out injuries. Our video is fairly simple, but still covers all the important parts of Tirta Empul that we want to introduce.

Despite our long distance communication, the discussion always went well. Not to forget Nisa was assisted by Silvia sensei and Michiko sensei in compiling the dubbing script. During the preparation of the manuscript, of course, there were many revisions, a good order of explanation, Japanese grammar which was at the level of JLPT level 3, and also hatsuon or good pronunciation and pronunciation when speaking in Japanese also needed attention. Not all scripts can be good if done alone, with limited experience of course the guidance from sensei gata is the one that helps us the most. He fully supports the production of this video, by providing encouragement as well as guidance that knows day and night.

Approaching the deadline, Toti also edited the video in a bit of a hurry so that we forgot to include the title of the video. Worried about the final result, we ended up encouraging each other, whatever the result, we tried our best. We are satisfied with whatever the result, because daring to try new things is a plus point. Unexpectedly it turned out that we were able to take third place, thank God our 3 days 3 nights paid off, it might sound excessive, but we really did it and it worked. Not to forget, of course, this result was helped by many parties, the support and prayers from Senpai Gata, friends, also sensei Gata were our strength to get to this point. We would like to thank all those who have supported and prayed for us in all the processes in this competition. We hope that what we have achieved can inspire friends to always try and take whatever opportunity is available, because the opportunity is always there wherever and whenever, but the same opportunity will not be repeated.
