Program Studi Sastra Jepang Universitas Udayana Laksanakan Webinar dan Lokakarya Kebudayaan Jepang “Nihon no Bunka III”

On Saturday, August 14, 2021, the Japanese Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University in collaboration with The Japan Foundation, Jakarta successfully held an ikebana webminar and a shoudou art workshop titled Nihon No Bunka III online through the Webex application.


Nihon No Bunka III is consistently held in August to commemorate independence day and strengthen Indonesia-Japan bilateral relations. This event is a collaboration in the form of the Sakura Project program from The Japan Foundation, Jakarta.


About 100 participants attended this webminar and workshop with Shigemi Sakakibara as the resource person for the ikebana webminar and Hagihara Michiyo as resource person for the shodou workshop. in addition, the Head of the Japanese Literature Study Program, Ngurah Indra Pradhana, S.S., M.Hum and the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University, Dr. Made Sri Satyawati, S.S.M.Hum also gave a good welcome to this event.


In his opening, Ngurah Indra Pradhana, S.S,. M.Hum explained that the purpose of this activity was to increase people's knowledge about Japanese culture. In addition to being a learning media and obtaining SKP for lecturers and students, this event is expected to provide wider benefits and cultural insight for participants. These webminars and workshops can become a place for research outcomes, research results can be produced in the form of artistic practices, said Dr. Made Sri Satyawati, S.S.M.Hum.


The first session was filled with ikebana webminar. Ikebana itself is a Japanese art of flower arrangement with philosophical meanings. The Ikebana webminar contains in-depth explanations and practical videos. While the second session was filled with shodou workshops. This art is the art of artistically writing Japanese characters on washi paper using a fork and ink. The shodou workshop runs interactively with 2 paraga and also a session showing the participants' work from home. (nr)
