Shinshu University Japan Education Scholarship

Introducing, my name is Ni Putu Ayu Roslia, a 2015 Japanese Literature student. On this occasion I will share my experience while studying at Shinshu University Japan. This scholarship is a scholarship from the student exchange program from Shinshu University to all universities in the world. Not only Indonesia but there are also universities from America, Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam and also several countries in Europe. I got this scholarship information directly from the Department of Letters, which is the place where I studied. To be able to take part in the selection at that time, students must already have an N3 Certificate of Japanese language ability. After that, the Lecturers in Japanese Literature will make a selection in the form of a written selection and an interview selection. This program only covers the cost of education. For other accommodations, students must pay for it themselves. But as we know that education in Japan is very expensive. Therefore, I really appreciate this opportunity and am very happy to be able to pass the selection and study in Japan.

Shinshu University Japan is located in Perfecture Nagano, Matsumoto City in central Japan. Nagano is a very beautiful Perfecture. It is surrounded by many mountains and has very clean water compared to other prefectures. While studying at Shinshu University I lived in a special dormitory for foreign students. The location of the hostel to campus is very close, by walking or by bicycle for about 10 minutes. For daily transportation I use a bicycle. While studying at Shinshu University, each student will be given a tutor who is one of the students at Shinshu University. So during my studies there, I found it very helpful because the tutor would explain something we didn't understand, for example, how to pay for electricity, water and so on. At Shinshu University not only did I take special academic classes (grammar, kanji, kaiwa) but I also took art classes and took a study tour to see how to make traditional Japanese food and Katana weapons. While studying there I gained a lot of valuable experience. So I know how to place myself among people who come from abroad. Their discipline in particular is what I really admire.

I am very grateful for taking this scholarship because not only will I become more proficient in Japanese, I will also learn how to live independently and learn what responsibility is. Even though when I first decided to apply for the scholarship I felt insecure and scared because during my stay in Bali I never went abroad, but I am sure this scholarship will be very useful in the future.
