The Japan Festival of Udayana 2019

The Japan Festival of Udayana or abbreviated as D'JAFU was established in 2012. This annual activity for students majoring in Japanese literature, Udayana University is spearheaded by Japanese literature students themselves. D'JAFU is not just a routine agenda for Japanese literature students, but a medium for learning from campus. In addition to the embodiment of learning from campus, D'JAFU is a medium for learning new things outside the campus which is certainly fun for students. D'JAFU has two days of implementation. The first day contained various Japanese language competitions such as kana contest, madding, story telling, fanart, Japan band, and cosplay. This competition is intended for high school students inside and outside Bali. While the second day is the culmination of D'JAFU which contains the festival and the announcement of the winners of the competition. The festival on the second day of D'JAFU is always lively. There are many community stands for Japanese lovers, various Japanese culinary specialties, culinary delights from various parts of Indonesia, Japanese accessories, apparel, and so on that always pamper the visitors.

D'JAFU is usually held in November, considering that in Japan, November is a month that has a lot of matsuri. The first day of D'JAFU was held at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University. On the second day it is located at Taman Gong Peace, Kertalangu Cultural Village, Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai 88x Kesiman, Denpasar. The exception for D'JAFU 1st, held at the RRI Building, jl. Hayam Wuruk 70, Denpasar. The theme that is carried every year has a deep and unique meaning.

This event was fully supported by lecturers of Japanese Literature Study Program, the Japanese Consul General, private companies, and the Denpasar government. Through this event, students are able to develop soft skills and hard skills. The students learn to manage time, be responsible for everything that is decided and the trust given in each division, communicate with important people, and don't forget to learn conflict management with every committee involved. Building an event in such a way that initially it was hard when it was carried out became even more light, More fun of course! Every clash that exists within the committee always forms the committee itself, that's what is fun. In addition to the confusion and fatigue of the committee, the feedback given by the visitors was positive, as seen from the excitement that was shown through the many people who participated in the competition that was held and bought and visited the peak of the D'JAFU event. Opium D'JAFU for everyone present was the appearance of the guest star and the hanabi or fireworks display. For the latest information about D'JAFU or photo memories, after-event videos, can be accessed via D'JAFU's social media, D'JAFU's Instagram: djafu_sasjep or Facebook: The Japan Festival of Udayana. Continue to follow D'JAFU's footsteps, minnasan! The following is #JEPAN aka the poll from the D'JAFU committee representing several generations.

“Djafu, according to my sister, is the grandest Japanese festival in Bali and still has to be held every year. In addition to cultural exchange, on the other hand, it can arouse students' creativity in decorating the display according to the theme they adopt. In addition, competitions in the academic field are very important to explore the potential of high school students throughout Bali. The feeling of being a D'JAFU committee is mixed, there are ups and downs, the most important thing is that the experience that can't be a D'JAFU committee can't be forgotten. (Deco '16)

“For three years in a row, I have been entrusted with D'JAFU to be in the Yukata division, to be more precise, a photographer. Not bad too, while in this division my photography skills have improved. Besides, the Yukata division for me is the least R-I-B-E-T division! OKE BYE THANK YOU D'JAFU, KIM HAE JOON LEFT THE COMMITTEE!. (Joshua '17)

In 2019, I had the opportunity to be a committee member at the biggest Japanese event in Bali. I had the opportunity to become a committee of competitions and games. My impression during the preparation of Djafu was very heavy and stressful. I'm not a coordinator but I think that the preparations that were really tight made me also stressed. Then, for the D day, very fun and full of excitement. However, there were some very unfortunate things that happened. One of the most frequent complaints from visitors in 2019 was the absence of merchandise in the form of fans. However, apart from that, the whole event of this festival was very enjoyable and memorable for me. The thing that amazed me the most about Djafu 7th was the enthusiasm of the visitors. I, as the committee on duty at the games stand, was excited to see the enthusiasm of visitors to try Japanese-style games that were arranged in such a way with a variety of choices. In addition, the number of famous guest stars makes this event really like a festival in Japan. The Japanese-style nuance is very thick, especially when it's getting late at night and heading for the peak event. The Hanabi is truly amazing and touched me with the hard work of the committee and the enthusiasm of the visitors” (Sugi ‘18)

Well, how interesting is not it? Want to be a committee or a visitor? It's your choice! Look forward to the next D'JaFU
