The Last Day of the Sustainable Development Goals Program for Japanese Literature Students at Udayana University with Bunkyo Gakuin University Students

In accordance with the directions in the previous days in the SDGs program, Japanese Literature students from Udayana University and Bunkyo Gakuin University students carried out the last day of the SDGs program by presenting the search results and ideas generated from each group.

This activity was held on March 8, 2022 by hybrid. A total of 11 students from Udayana University stopped at Mana Earthly Paradise, Ubud. Meanwhile, students who were unable to attend as well as students from Bunkyo Gakuin University participated in the activity bravely through the Zoom Meeting application.

Students who come offline are given the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Tomo-san, Ako-san, and Miss Nurwantini at Mana Earthly Paradise. The activity was opened directly by Tomo-san, and immediately invited three groups from Bunkyo Gakuin University to present the results of their discussion.

The three groups from Bunkyo Gakuin University presented about the waste problem in their campus environment. Each group brought three ideas or solutions that could later be realized, namely about collecting bottle caps so that they are easier to recycle; using lunch boxes in the canteen to minimize the use of plastic; and create a committee that focuses on environmental hygiene. When each group finishes explaining its presentation, a session of suggestions, criticism, questions, and appreciation from other students will be opened.

There is a break for every student, especially the students in Mana Earthly Paradise. Students who attended offline, were provided with comfortable facilities and food from Mana Earthly Paradise.

The next presentation was brought by students of the Japanese Literature Study Program from Udayana University. The first group brought the issue of electricity use on the Udayana University campus. They considered that it was necessary to reduce the use of electricity, especially at night. The second group explained about the use of plastic in the campus canteen.

They have a mission to declare to other students to reduce plastic waste by bringing containers from home. The third group explained about their mission in sorting waste. Then, the last group developed an idea to reduce the use of paper at the University by recycling paper and minimizing its use in lectures.

The last session is the voting session, where each student chooses an activity idea to actually be realized in their respective campuses. Udayana University students were accompanied directly by Tomo-san to choose which ideas to use. He also explained about what things must be considered and what things must be prepared to carry out these activities.

After finishing getting the results from the voting, Udayana University students agreed that the topic of saving electricity in the campus environment was realized. Meanwhile, Bunkyo Gakuin University students, accompanied by Ako Fujimoto as program manager at Earth Company, agreed to collaborate on the three topics they brought together to form a program that will soon be realized.

To close this activity, Tomo-san hopes that every program that he wants to realize will actually be realized and provide a significant improvement for the respective campus environment. Because in the end all the things that have been explained will be in vain if there is no movement from each student himself. The lecturers and staff who were present on the last day of the SDGs program also gave their appreciation to each student.
