THE RISE OF THE BALI SMILE FOUNDATION
Donation to the Smile Foundation of Bali
The COVID-19 pandemic affects all aspects of people's lives in the world, as well as Bali. Significant changes occur in everyone's life. In the midst of the tangled wheels of the economy and social conditions in the community, it is difficult to bring a smile. However, not a few people try to sympathize or even empathize to simply reissue the smiles of those around them who have recently been drowned by the COVID-19 pandemic. Unud's Japanese Literature students participated in the effort. Japanese Literature Students Unud held a fundraising campaign for the Bali Smile Foundation to help patients with cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial defects.
Fundraising is done by collecting donations in the form of items that have been determined. Items that can be donated consist of books, decent clothing, handicrafts, shoes, accessories, household appliances, and so on. Social media such as Line and Instagram were chosen by students to raise donations. The students also did not forget to include an update on the donations collected on the Unud Japanese Literature student's Instagram account, namely nibunkasekai.unud. All the proceeds from the donation will be used to help with surgery costs for children with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial defects.
The enthusiasm of the students can be seen from the large number of donated items collected. Further management is carried out by HMPS Japanese Literature Unud. The donation collection process started from June 12-12 July, then distributed to the Smile Foundation of Bali by representatives of the HMPS Japanese Literature Unud on July 14, 2020. The Japanese Literature student activity at Unud was positively welcomed by the Bali Smile Foundation. This can be seen from the thanks letter given by the chairman of the Bali Smile Foundation, Desak Made Sukma Dewi to representatives of Unud's Japanese Literature students. Unud's Japanese literature students hope that this little piece of sincerity can re-issue the smiles of the children at the Bali Smile Foundation. Unud Japanese Literature students also hope that this activity will continue to be carried out in the future. This activity is also an embodiment of the Tri Dharma of higher education, namely community service.
