News Report on MBKM Independent Internship at Bali Japanic

My name is Jonathan Hizkia Emanuelle, a student from Udayana University, took part in the MBKM Independent Internship Program for four months at Bali Japanic, a Japanese language training and job preparation institution located in Denpasar. The program ran from March 10 to June 26, 2025. In this program, I served as a Japanese language instructor—a role closely aligned with my field of study and an opportunity to apply linguistic and cultural knowledge in a real professional setting.

During the internship, I taught Japanese at beginner to intermediate levels (N5 to N3), covering grammar, daily conversation, keigo (polite speech), kanji, and skills in reading and listening. In addition to teaching, I also delivered training on Japanese culture and work ethics, including core values such as discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and respectful formal communication. Realistic workplace simulations in a Japanese context were also part of the training curriculum.

I was actively involved in developing learning materials, including modules, practice questions, and interactive media tailored to the needs and learning styles of the participants. I also conducted regular assessments in the form of quizzes, tests, and provided additional mentoring sessions for participants who needed extra support.

Through this program, I gained a variety of valuable experiences—from improving my Japanese proficiency and teaching skills to developing classroom management and professional communication. I experienced first-hand the values of Japanese work culture, which emphasizes discipline, punctuality, and teamwork. The collaborative and supportive environment at Bali Japanic significantly enriched my experience as a future educator.

Throughout the internship, I built strong relationships with training participants and Bali Japanic staff, expanding my understanding of multicultural work environments. Documentations such as photos of teaching sessions, training activities, and exam simulations reflect my learning journey. This internship has greatly contributed to both my academic and professional development and has inspired me to continue growing and contributing in the field of Japanese language and culture.
